SSH server manager bot: health checks, updates and a nightly report
Give one bot SSH access from its own computer. It checks uptime, CPU, memory, disk and pending security updates, asks you before it installs anything, and posts a health report to Slack every night.

Approvals. X posts always ask first, and so do trading orders unless you set a Binance or Polymarket bot to trade on its own within its limits. Other actions ask only when Approvals are on in Settings; on Never ask, the krypton.bot default, they run without asking.

Slack
Gets the health report in your #ops channel. With Approvals on, posts wait for your OK in Krypton; pick Always allow this tool so the nightly report goes out on its own.

Bot computer (shell + SSH)Built in
Runs ssh, uptime, df, free and apt on your servers from the bot's own computer, with the key you saved as a secret.

Repeats the health check every night at 07:00 and posts the report without you asking.

How to set it up in Krypton
Make a key for the bot
On each server, add a separate SSH key for the bot to a user with the sudo rights it needs (for example apt only). Keep it separate from your own key so you can remove it any time.
Hire the bot
Open Bot Marketplace and hire the Developer, or ask Chief in chat to create a server bot. It works on its own computer, so nothing runs on your laptop.
Save the key as a secret
Ask the bot to set up SSH. It opens a masked secret card; paste the private key there. The bot never sees the value in chat, and shell commands read it from the environment.
Connect Slack (optional)
In Integrations, pick Slack and sign in to the workspace that has your #ops channel. On the first post, pick Always allow this tool so later nightly reports don't wait for you. Skip Slack and the report arrives in the Krypton chat instead.
Send the prompt
Paste the prompt below and change the server names and the report time. The bot checks first and only reads until you answer.
Answer before changes
The bot asks before it installs updates or restarts anything. Pick an option, or tell it in chat what to do instead.
Check our two Ubuntu servers, web-01 and db-01, over SSH: uptime, CPU, memory, disk and pending security updates. Ask me before you install anything. Then send a short health report to #ops in Slack every night at 07:00.What the bot does
- Finds the saved SSH key, then connects to each server from its own computer.
- Reads uptime, load, CPU, memory and disk use, and the failed systemd units.
- Lists pending updates and marks which ones are security updates and which need a restart.
- Asks you before it installs anything, then runs apt on each server and checks the services again.
- Creates a routine that repeats the health check every night at 07:00.
- Posts the report to Slack after your approval, or keeps it in the Krypton chat.
Questions
Can the bot change my servers without asking?
Not in this setup. You tell it to ask first, and it asks before it installs updates or restarts anything. Use a separate key with only the sudo rights it needs, and remove the key to cut access at once.
Where do the SSH commands run?
On the bot's own computer in Krypton, not on your laptop. The bot runs the ssh command there with the key you saved as a secret.
Is there an SSH app in the catalog?
No app is needed. SSH is a normal command on the bot's computer. Slack is the only catalog app here, and only for the report.
Are these real servers?
No. It is an illustration with sample data: Contoso is fictional, the host names use example.com, and every number is made up to show the flow.
